Pieris rapae

A while back (I believe sometime in October) I found a little green caterpillar making a cocoon on my garage door. So, just for fun, I pried it off and found a jar for the tiny creature. For months I have been eagerly waiting to see what kind of butterfly it is and, finally, it hatched today. This morning, I'd found it a far different color than what it used to be (for the months prior, it had remained light green). It had darkened and the areas around where the wings were tucked had lightened. I had a bit of bad luck, though, and had missed it actually hatching, but here are some macro shots of the cute little thing sitting on my finger doing some very fine poses. I don't think I've done too many photos like these before, so please tell me how it turned out.

It seems the color of this butterfly is quite fitting for St. Patrick's Day.
