What Snow?
The district has declared today a snow day and there's barely a fraction of an inch of snow on the ground. They're apparently worried about the conditions later today. It'll be pretty amusing if nothing really happens. One great example of a miscalculation is the long series of snow days a couple of years ago. All schools closed in my district, but nothing came. I looked at the weather and there was this "golden zone" right above where I live. The rest of the screen showed snow showers everywhere. There was another mishap where the district was correct and didn't close the schools, but a good portion of the students thought it was going to be a snow day and didn't do any homework (apparently millimeter diameter flakes are a cause for alarm) . Well, it's starting to snow outside. Maybe we will get an inch or two for once.
