Whidbey

My dad and I took a day-trip to Whidbey Island and I made sure to bring the camera. We headed up I-5 through Mukilteo and turned onto highway 20 to take us to Fidalgo Island (right above Whidbey). On our way trying to get to Deception Pass, Dad found a place to stop, Rosario Beach. It was pretty nice even though I didn't get a lot of good pictures and that we only realised how cold it really was until we got out of the car (we had fun numbing our hands). When we were done there we headed up the road to Deception Pass. Right before the bridge my dad pulled over and I got a couple of pictures of the bridge and that tree. Then, being the silly person I am decided to drive across the bridge holding the camera out the window taking photos as fast as I could instead of walking across (which would have been  A LOT easier). We went back across doing the same thing too. My dad then parked near the beginning of the bridge and I got out and took several pictures near the base of the bridge. Our next stop was Fort Casey (decided after we stopped in Oak Harbor). We walked to the light house and such, but the thing I got a kick out of was the deer. They are the friendliest things you could imagine. I've been so used to deer that would start walking away when you were about 200 feet away from them (I guess because they were regularly hunted in that area). They allowed me to come about ten or so feet away from them, and they really didn't care that I was sitting in the grass photographing them. The little fawn was so curious it started to come towards me to see what I was doing (that's the fawn in the picture with its mommy or some other adult). We decided to take the ferry from Clinton to Mukilteo on the way home since it was closer and it would have taken a lot longer to drive back up to the north side of the island and cross over to the mainland. Soon after we left Fort Casey, Dad spotted a bald eagle sitting on a post in the middle of a field. I asked him if we could pull over and that is the best photo of the eagle at the side. On the ferry ride home I had a sudden urge to photograph seagulls and I finally got the one below the eagle photo right before it was our turn to leave the ferry at the Mukilteo port. So, it was a pretty good day. The whole trip spanned from about 9:30am to 4:00pm.
